Dalarna is rich in nature reserves (120). Within a range of 80 km you can find about thirty of them. At the same distance there is the wild Töfsingdalen National Park, and the national parks Guttulia and Femundsmarka in Norway. Following statistics, to meet Bears and Wolves is easier in Dalarna than in other Swedish areas.

17 km far from Särna you can find Glysjön Lake which is a first-rate spot for many birds, in every seasons: Osprey, Crane, Diver, Wooper Swan, Goldeneye, Smew, Canada Goose, Willow grouse, Capercaillie, just to mention the commonest. On the shores Elk, Fox and Beaver. There are 5 sighting tower and fire places.

Besides nature, the area is an outdoor activities heaven: hiking and trekking, caoing along Särna lake or the river Osterälvdalen; in winter snowmobile or dog-sledge tours. For those who appreciate this kind of thing, the area is considered one of the best for fishing.
